Dr. Burton, a West Coast native, graduated from Oregon Health Sciences Center in 1978. He and his wife, Tobey, in their quest to see and live in another part of the country, came to Louisville to do a pediatric residency at Kosair Children's Hospital. Upon completion of his residency program in 1981, he joined the local HMO (HealthAmerica) as an employed physician. The HMO went through several mergers over the years. Dr. Burton became head of the pediatric department for the HMO in 1982 and center medical director for a number of years (1983-1994). He became Board Certified in 1982 and was recertified in 1999 by the American Board of Pediatrics.
In May of 1998, Dr. Burton and 3 colleagues started their current practice. In addition he is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physician Executives, Kentucky Medical Society, Jefferson County Medical Society, Kentucky Pediatric Society, and the Louisville Pediatric Society. Dr. Burton has been active in the local soccer scene, serving in 2 different Club Boards. He was also on the founding board for the national Junior Competitive Climbing Association.
Dr. Burton and his wife Tobey have two sons and a Cocker Spaniel named Max.
